Homer Edward Yount, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 26, 1931, at Sedgewickville, Mo., son of Edgar and Gertie Doggett Yount. He and Hazel V. Stowe were married Nov. 27, 1960.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau. He had been a counselor for the Meadow Heights School District from 1976 to 1996, a Navy chief hospital corpsman E7, serving from 1951 to July 31, 1972, in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served aboard the USS Sanctuary Hospital Ship during Vietnam. He was a member of Marble Hill Masonic Trowell Lodge 440, VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau and the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Brett Yount of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Rev. Miles White officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
