CAIRO, Ill. - Homer Dean, 78 of Paducah and formerly of Cairo, died Saturday July 17, 1993 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. He was a retired employee of the Cairo Post Office.

Dean was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cairo, the Cairo VFW Post 2649, and a veteran of World War II.

His first wife, Edith, preceded him in death in 1984. He later married Mildred E. Dean of Paducah, who survives.

Also surviving are: three daughters, Mari Lynn Burnett of Paducah, and Yolanda Dean and Nancy Call, both of Las Vegas; one son, William J. Dean of Cairo; one step-daughter, Peggy Jean Guerra of Woodstock, Ill.; one step-son, Allan Ladd of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Helen Vowels of Kansas City; and several grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cairo, with Rev. Daniel E. Knock officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
