James "Holly" Adams, 84, of Scott City died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
He was born Nov. 14, 1918, at Fornfelt, Mo., son of James and Laura Adams. He and Wilma Laverne Downs were married March 8, 1941, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 21, 1996.
Adams was an engineer with Cotton Belt-Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a member of H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, VFW Post 3838 and Elks Lodge 639 in Cape Girardeau, and was a 32nd Degree member of Scottish Rite Masons in St. Louis.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Schranz of Collierville, Tenn., and a sister, Opal Limbaugh of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Masonic rites will be at 7.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Charles Tennison officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
