Hilbert Heuer

Hilbert L. "Bert" Heuer, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Cape Girardeau, son of Benjamin and Sophie Rau Heuer. He and Ruth Kelpe were married Sept. 22, 1946, in Cape Girardeau.

Heuer was a graduate of Central High School. He was a dairy farmer all his life and a breeder of walking horses. He was a member of Hanover Dramatic Club, St. Andrew Lutheran Church and Tennessee Walking Horse Association.

Survivors include his wife, a sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Old Hanover Church Fund or St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
