SIKSTON -- Herbert Harold "Bert" Teachout, 71, of Sikeston died Friday, May 13, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. SIKSTON -- Herbert Harold "Bert" Teachout, 71, of Sikeston died Friday, May 13, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 21, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Harold E. and Verona DeVore Moore Teachout.

He married Evelyn Marie Crosno on Nov. 22, 1947, at Perryville, and she survives him.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines. He managed the retail lumber and hardware department of Waldschmidt Lumber Co. in Wickliffe, Ky., for 10 years. He also worked for S&T Industries in Louisville, Ky., and the Moore Company in Sikeston. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Teachout of New York, N.Y., and David Teachout of Sikeston; two half-brothers, James E. Moore III of Sikeston and Rodney Teachout of Des Moines, Iowa; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Wimberley of Sikeston officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
