Hester McCrite

TAMMS, Ill. -- Hester Fay McCrite, 82, of Tamms died Monday, June 4, 2018, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

Hester was born April 5, 1936, in Olive Branch, Illinois, the daughter of Virgil and Muriel Smiley Williams. She and Raymond "Pedro" McCrite married May 29, 1954. He preceded her in death May 9, 2016.

She was a bus driver for the Regional Office of Education for 40 years. Hester loved quilting and was a wonderful homemaker and excellent mother. She was a dedicated member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church for 64 years.

Hester is survived by her sons, Danny (Julie) McCrite of Tamms and Jeff McCrite of Tamms; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Lindley, Melissa (Brian) Mathey, Nick Santamaria, Amanda (Vince) Ehrhardt, Alex McCrite, Kelsey McCrite and Adam McCrite; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Lester (Gerry) Williams of Joliet, Illinois; half-sister, Mary Catherine Haynes of Detroit; sister-in-law, Evelyn Williams; brother-in-law, Steve Baird; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Tommy and Harvey Dale Williams; and sister, Lucille Baird.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Clint Nale and Davy Miller officiating. Interment to follow in McCrite Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to McCrite Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
