GIPSY -- Hershul V. Speer, 71, of Gipsy, died Monday, April 4, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 22, 1922, at Brownwood, son of Oscar E. and Thelma Virgin Speer. He and Geneva Whitener were married Feb. 6, 1942, at Marble Hill.
Speer was a retired aeronautical supervisor with Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Hershul Speer Jr. of Kaneohe, Hawaii; two daughters, Patricia Schatte of Poplar Bluff, Priscilla Talley of Gipsy; two brothers, Virgle Speer of Puxico, Doyle Speer of Fredericktown; four sisters, Beatrice Hindman of Sturdivant, Rita Blanton of Advance, Maxine Shell of Dexter, Joyce Romero of Saudi Arabia; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons, and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-9 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Eldo Eaker and Lee Roy Hefner officiating. Burial will be in New Hope-McGee Cemetery, with military graveside rites.
