SIKESTON, Mo. -- Herschel W. Deal, 86, of Sikeston died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Miner Nursing Center. He was born May 22, 1918, in Karnak, Ill., son of Joseph Henry and Lena Elizabeth Hanle Deal. He and Mary Helen Johnson were married March 19, 1961, at Charleston, Mo. She died March 4, 2004...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Herschel W. Deal, 86, of Sikeston died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Miner Nursing Center.

He was born May 22, 1918, in Karnak, Ill., son of Joseph Henry and Lena Elizabeth Hanle Deal. He and Mary Helen Johnson were married March 19, 1961, at Charleston, Mo. She died March 4, 2004.

Deal was a police officer and firefighter 11 years with city of Sikeston, before starting a moving and delivery service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Zickefoose of Des Moines, Iowa, Debbie Casey of Dexter, Mo., Patricia Scott of Maryland Heights, Mo.; a sister, Kathryn Wethington of Sikeston; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandson.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dolan Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
