PERRYVILLE -- Herman "Cotton" Zahner, 76, of Perryville, died Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 22, 1919, at Silver Lake, son of Henry and Viola Maddock Zahner. He and Dorothy DeRoe were married March 2, 1946.
Zahner was a retired bricklayer. He was a member of St. Vincent's Cathlic Church, American Legion Post 133, Elks Lodge 2701 and Knights of Columbus Council 1263. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Zahner of Perryville; three daughters, Debbie Acton of Memphis, Tenn., Connie Kirn of Perryville, Beverly Burlison of Edmond, Okla.; three sisters, Lee Adams of St. Louis, Madeline Casgrave of Sylvas, Ill., Lucille Bauman of Ste. Genevieve; three brothers, Clarence Zahner of Silver Lake, Jerry Zahner of St. Louis, Norbert Zahner of Perryville, and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30-9:45 a.m.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Revs. Kevin Fausz and Alphonse Hoernig officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
