Memorial service for Herman W. Marshall, Cape Girardeau Route 1, former postmaster here, will be held at 4 p.m. today at St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. Craig Nessan will officiate.
There is no visitation. Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marshall, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1993, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Beaver Dam, Wis., son of Cecil and Julia Kupka Marshall. He and Marjorie Lucille Walker were married in 1947 in Huntington, Ind.
Marshall was employed by the U.S. Postal Service 43 years. He had been a letter carrier, postal inspector 16 years, postal service officer, director of mail processing 10 years in Iowa, and was postmaster here from 1982-86. He was a member of St. Mark Church. Marshall served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Thomas Marshall of Houston, Texas, James Marshall of Paragould, Ark., Robert Marshall of Fullerton, Calif., David Marshall of Altenburg; a daughter, Marsha Gutshall of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Joseph Szewzak of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Olga Weber of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
