Paul Herman Schaefer, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, son of August and Marie Held Schaefer. He and Elberta Laverne Lucas were married Jan. 28, 1937, in Cairo, Ill. She died May 17, 1997.

Schaefer was an inspector and did maintenance work at Southeast Missouri State University 36 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and former member of its Men's Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Eifert of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Leon Schaefer of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Dissen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
