CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Herman L. "John Lee" Eggleston, 71, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Thursday, July 20, 2006, following a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Memphis, Tenn., son of John and Ora Eggleston. He and Dora Mae Ramsey were married in 1970 in Cleveland.

Eggleston formerly lived in Cape Girardeau and attended Second Baptist Church. He was a lead foreman 32 years with Sobel Corrugated Corp., retiring in 2004.

Survivors include five daughters, Anita O'Neal of Chicago, Janice Barnett of Milwaukee, Wis., Kim Anderson and Toni King of Cape Girardeau, Maleeka Williams of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight sons, Carlton Prim, Jozell James, Lloyd and Michael Hunt of Cape Girardeau, Johnny Hunt of St. Charles, Mo., Michael Hill, Johnny and Arshawn Eggleston of Cleveland; a sister, Ethel Weakley of Cape Girardeau; five brothers, Cleonard Wren, Mike and Richard Spicer of Cape Girardeau, Ervin Wren of Oklahoma City, Okla., Leonard Spicer of Jackson; an adopted sister, Martha Mason of Cape Girardeau; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held July 28 at Cummings and Davis Funeral Home in East Cleveland, Ohio.
