SIKESTON -- Herman Eugene Brashear, 55, of Sikeston, formerly of Mississippi County, died Saturday, April 13, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 3, 1940, in Bertrand, to John Finley and Mary Lucy Vanpool Brashear. On July 28, 1959, he married Emma Jane Bolin.

Brashear had lived in Sikeston for a number of years, where he was employed by the city as a water plant operator until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Herman Brashear Jr. of Matthews and Mike, Jeffrey, Timothy and Jason Brashear, all of Sikeston; two brothers, Douglas M. Brashear of Morley and Lawrence David Brashear of Sikeston; two sisters, Beatrice Crawford and Nancy Newson, both of Morley; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Calvin Bolin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
