CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Col. Herbert Marshall Stone, 82, of Charleston died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Charleston Manor Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1919, near Charleston, son of Frank and Lyde Dunlap Stone. He and Opal Montell Gray were married June 22, 1940.
Stone was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army for 37 years and worked for Brown Shoe, Missouri Utilities and Delta Growers, retiring in 1980.
Survivors include his wife and a sister, Alma Peyton of Stafford, Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at the First Baptist Church in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
