JACKSON -- Herbert P. Sebastian, 81, of Jackson, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He had been a resident of Missouri Veterans Home since June 1994.
He was born Oct. 10, 1913, at Tilsit, son of Henry and Rosa Birk Sebastian. He and Redia E. Crader were married June 27, 1946.
Sebastian was a pipefitter with Local 562, retiring in 1978. He also worked the family farm many years. He was a member and former trustee of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Tilsit, member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 and Jackson VFW Post. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dorothy "Dotty" Gholson of Jackson; two brothers, Hubert and Rudy Sebastian of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Rosina Poe of Cape Girardeau; a foster son, Paul Robertson of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; a foster granddaughter, and foster great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today, and at Immanuel Church after 9:30 a.m. Saturday. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30 tonight.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Paul Drake officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
