PERRYVILLE -- Herbert Mac Nelson, 87, of Perryville died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 10, 1910, at Cedar Fork, son of Mac A. and Eunice M. Hudson Nelson.
Nelson was a 1928 graduate of Perryville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He worked at Kroger six years, was a distributor for Toastmaster Bread seven years, and after serving in the Navy he owned and operated a Standard Oil Service Station in St. Louis. He retired and moved to Perryville in 1955, and was a distributor for the Globe Democrat Newspaper until 1965.
Nelson was a member and elder at First Presbyterian Church, member of VFW Post 4282, American Legion Post 133, Masonic Lodge, and charter member of Perry County Sportsman Club.
Survivors include two brothers, Loy Nelson of Perryville and Fred Nelson of St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. today, and Sunday after 6:30 a.m. A Masonic wake will be held tonight at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Bass officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
