ORAN -- Herbert Michael Brucker, 78, of Oran, died Monday, July 24, 1995, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 3, 1916, at Painton, son of Joseph and Philomine Glastetter Brucker. He and Loretta C. Vetter were married Jan. 9, 1946.

Brucker was a retired machinist, and had worked at Schneider Equipment Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church. St. Joseph's Sodality, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16 in Cape Girardeau.

He was a tank crewman with the U.S. Army during World War II. He received four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Brenda Brucker and Joyce Pobst of Oran, Donna Schmitt of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Eugene Brucker of Bell City; two sisters, Loretta Harrell and Cora Gosche of Chaffee, and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Guardian Angel Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
