DEXTER -- Herbert Lee Shipman, 86, died at his home in Dexter on Friday, Oct. 4, 1991.
He had lived all his life in Stoddard County, where he was a farmer. He was a very active member of the Mt. Glead "Hills" General Baptist Church.
He was born Feb. 7, 1905 to William J. and Frocy Grogens Shipman.
On Dec. 11, 1926, he married Joyce McClard. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Alene Matthews of Cape Girardeau, Nadine McConnell of Fayetteville, Ark. and Marjorie Clay of Philadelphia, Miss.; one brother, Robert Shipman of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Ruth Ellege of Chaffee; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
One son and one daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at today at 2 p.m. in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Robert Lafferty of Advance and the Rev. Berlin Harper of Bernie officiating. Burial will follow in the Hills Cemetery near Bloomfield.
