PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Herbert E. Koenig, 84, of Perryville died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Arbor Place of Festus in Festus, Mo.
He was born Sept. 16, 1925, at Uniontown, Mo., son of Ernst William and Amanda Franke Koenig. He and Viona K. Mirly were married April 15, 1951. She preceded him in death April 15, 2006.
Survivors include a son, Randy (Ann) Koenig of Perryville; two daughters, Carol (Larry) Detjen of Lexington, Ky., Christine (Terry) Lee of Uniontown; two sisters, Dorothy Bock of Uniontown, Alice Pfeiffer of Shawneetown; two brothers, Waldemar "Wally" Koenig of Hazelwood, Mo., and Earl Koenig of Uniontown.
Also 15 grandchildren, Terry Cullen, Jennifer Nunez, Matt, Jadon, Jordon, Hannah and Faith Lee, Jennifer Oakley, Angela Horn, Chad, Todd and Cory Strattman, Cari Barnes, Aaron and Audra Detjen; and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Irma Koeberl; and a grandson, Jeremy Koenig.
Koenig was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a past 25-year member of Federal Land Bank Association Board of Directors, an American Legion Post 133 booster and a recipient of the Conservation Farmer Award.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church Banner Fund, American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
