He was born Oct. 13, 1935, at Chaffee, the son of Joseph Frank and Caroline Catherine Schlosser Blattel. He was a retired cutter for Thorngate in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau. ORAN -- Herbert Lawrence Blattel, 62, of Oran died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the family home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1935, at Chaffee, the son of Joseph Frank and Caroline Catherine Schlosser Blattel.
He was a retired cutter for Thorngate in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau. He served four years in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran and of St. Joseph Sodality.
Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Schaefer of Washington, Ill., and Norma LeGrand of Carlyle, Ill.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran beginning at 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday Guardian Angel Catholic Church. The Rev. Lewis Hejna will officiate, with burial in Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
