Herbert A. Holshouser, 75, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born May 16, 1918, in Tamms, ill., son of John "Harry" Holshouser and Frankie Cauble Holshouser. Holshouser was owner/operator of Herb's Texaco on S. Sprigg for more than 35 years...

Herbert A. Holshouser, 75, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born May 16, 1918, in Tamms, ill., son of John "Harry" Holshouser and Frankie Cauble Holshouser.

Holshouser was owner/operator of Herb's Texaco on S. Sprigg for more than 35 years.

On Feb. 9, 1946, he married the former Dorris Blattel at Jackson. She survives.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving as an anti-aircraft gunnery instructor in the Army. He was also a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

he was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. He was a charter member of Kimberland Country Club.

Survivors included his wife; daughter, Bonnie English of Gordonville; two sons, Gary Holshouser of Cape Girardeau, and Rodney Holshouser of Jackson; one sister, Judy Trythall Livezey, of Overland Park, Kan.; and three grandchildren,

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.

Service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn, with the Rev. James Caughlan officiating. A military service will be conducted by VFW Post 3838. Interment will be in Memorial Park Mauseleum.

Friends may call today at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.
