Herbert Lee Holder, 84, of Scott City passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 10, 1934, to Fern Rubel and was raised by his grandparents, Albert and Caroline Rubel. He married the love of his life, Norma LeDure, June 11, 1955, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri. They had 63 wonderful years together...

Herbert Lee Holder, 84, of Scott City passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct. 10, 1934, to Fern Rubel and was raised by his grandparents, Albert and Caroline Rubel. He married the love of his life, Norma LeDure, June 11, 1955, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri. They had 63 wonderful years together.

He was a retired diesel mechanic from ABF Truck Lines and Wiethop Truck Sales. He hauled gravel before and after retirement with his dump truck. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus and served in the National Guard.

He was a kind and caring person; his family was his life. He loved to ride horses with his children and loved to coach them in baseball. He loved drinking coffee with his friends and catching up on the latest news at the coffee shop. He loved mowing and moving snow with his old Ford tractor.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Holder; two sons, Ronnie and Randy Holder of Scott City; three grandchildren, Mitch (Lexie) Holder of Benton, Missouri, Jeff Holder of Scott City and Abbey Holder of Jackson; and a brother, Jim Menees of Scott City.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Holder; a brother, Bob Rubel; and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish rosary at 7 p.m., Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Scott City.

Memorials donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
