Henry S. McCarty, son of the late George McCarty and Dora Webb McCarty was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Fornfelt and departed this life Dec. 12, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 93 years.
Mr. McCarty was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk for many years and was member of the American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge in Dexter, Mo. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter.
On April 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to Vivian L. Taylor. Mrs. McCarty survives of their home.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Gordon McCarty and wife Cynthia of Maitland, Fla.; one daughter, Linda Godfrey and husband Lawrence of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Lori Godfrey, Wendy Wiseman and husband David, Dax McCarty and Dustin McCarty; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Wiseman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William S. "Bill" McCarty and Charles McCarty; and one sister, Juanita "Sis" Carlisle.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nick Robertson officiating. Interment will be in Dexter Cemetery.
