Henry W. Loos, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Jackson, Mo., son of Conrad and Anne Bock Loos. He and Mary Ruth Kirkendoll were married June 2, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.
At the age of 9 Mr. Loos began working at the Sugar Creek Creamery in Cape Girardeau. After attending Southeast Missouri State University one year, he transferred to Iowa State University in Ames. There he received a degree in dairy industry.
Upon graduation he began working for Kraft Foods in Chicago. He was instrumental in developing cheese products for the military during World War II. He retired from Kraft in 1978.
Mr. Loos was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Trinity Men's Club, Elderberries and Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Gary of Albuquerque, N.M., Tim of Chicago; a daughter-in-law, Martha; three granddaughters, Hillary, Allison and Megan; and three great-grandchildren, Corinna, Jacob and Annaleise.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
