GULF BREEZE, Fla. -- Henry Wilson Jaschke, 91, of Gulf Breeze passed peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015.

He was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Beckemeyer, Illinois, to George and Laura (Fehring) Jaschke.

At the age of 3, he and his family moved to Toledo, Ohio.

After graduating from Woodward High School, he served in the U.S. Army for the duration of World War II.

Upon returning to the U.S., he moved to Cape Girardeau, where he volunteered at the local VFW, Post 3838. This is where he met his future wife, Joan Meinz.

After marriage, he made a career in sales with the Quaker Oats Company. In 1971, he moved his family to Gulf Breeze, Florida.

He retired there after a career of 36 years.

Proceeding him in death were his parents and siblings, Georgia Jaschke, Wilma Hinkamp, John Jaschke and George Jaschke Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Meinz Jaschke; two daughters, Janis (Greg) Denney and Maria (Jim) Harvey; and three grandchildren, Curtis Foss Denney, Rachel (Seth) Church and Brandon Harvey.

Visitation will be at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, with graveside rites following.
