HENRY E. BENNETT

COBDEN, Ill. -- Henry E. Bennett, 65, of Cobden died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at his home east of Cobden.

He was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Carbondale, the son of Claude Everett and Anna Foster Bennett.

He was an electrical contractor and owner of Bennett Electric in Cobden. He was a member of IBEW Local #702 in West Frankfort. He was a Korean War veteran and member of Anna VFW Post 3455 and Cobden American Legion Post 259.

Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Stroehlein of Cobden; two sons, David and Dan Bennett, both of Cobden; two sisters, Helen Holderfield of Alto Pass and Sherry Sloan of Anna; three brothers, Donald Bennett of Staunton, Va., Alan Bennett of Clover, S.C., and Gary Bennett of Makanda; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Vernon of Anna; two stepsons, Richard Bennett of Cobden and Jeff Bennett of Alto Pass; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating.

Burial will be at the Cobden Cemetery with military honors by the Anna VFW Post 3455 and the Cobden American Legion Post 259.
