Henry F. Davis, 93, of Jackson, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Menfro, Mo., to John C. and Esther E. Henry F. Davis, 93, of Jackson, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Menfro, Mo., to John C. and Esther E. Cox Davis. He and Lucille Z. Meyer were married Sept. 28, 1941, in Jackson. She passed away March 7, 2012.

Henry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from September 1942 to October 1945. He was awarded five Bronze Stars for campaigns in Normandy, Northern France; Rhineland; Ardennes; and Central Europe.

He was a lifelong farmer near Oak Ridge, and also worked for the Oak Ridge School District many years. He was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, volunteering his labor on construction of church additions and with church maintenance.

Loving survivors include a son, Roger (Gail) Davis of Fenton, Mo; a daughter, Marilyn (Raymond) Accola of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother, Percy Davis of Perryville; three sisters, Vera Farrow and Lillie Kraemer of Jackson, Melva Floyd of Oak Ridge; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife of 70 years, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Homer, Amos, James and John Davis; and three sisters, Mildred Brown, Zeta Putz and Lillian Weber.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bud Schott officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge.
