Henry Burnette

Henry A. Burnette, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Sept. 28, 1912, in Farmington, Mo., son of Thomas A. and Sarah E. Henry Burnette. He and Mary E. White were married March 5, 1942, at Farmington. She died Sept. 3, 1995.

Burnette owned and operated Burnette's Meat Market 25 years. He also worked at Ruhs Market, Hirsch Market, Mercer's Marker, Big Star, and Mr. B's as a meatcutter. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, and attended Cape Bible Missionary Church.

Survivors include three sons, Henry Burnette of Cape Girardeau, Larry and Terry Burnette of Jackson; two stepsons, Roy Bauer of Trenton, Ga., Lloyd Bauer of Kankakee, Ill.; two daughters, Diane Decker of Jerseyville, Ill., Dottie Ludwig of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters, Shirley Gilbert of Dellwood, Mo., Rita Shannon of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; a brother, Charles Burnette of Downey, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Phillips of Laguna Hills, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Troy Truitt and Vernon Long officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
