Henry "Hank" Buchheit, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 15, 1929, in St. Louis, the son of Albert Joseph and Leneta Loretta Hotop Buchheit.
He and Ada Lee Eftink were married June 11, 1955, at Guardian Angel Church in Oran, Mo. She preceded him in death Nov. 10, 1999.
Hank served during the Korean War, first in the Air Force and then in the Army.
He moved to Cape Girardeau from Old Appleton in 1948. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Council 1111, United Commercial Travelers, TPA and VFW Post 3838.
Hank worked for Winnelson, formerly N.O. Nelson, for 38 years. His greatest joys were fishing and being with his dog, Mitzi.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Greg) Lowes of Cape Girardeau, Ruby (John) Cox of Desloge, Mo., Tammy (Steve) Lunsford of Zalma, Mo.; one sister, Aurelia "Mic" Weiss of Creve Coeur, Mo.; six grandchildren, Joseph, Jason, Jennifer, Jessica, Angela and Amy; 10 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home on Sprigg Street. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. with Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Graveside rites will be provided by VFW Post 3838.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Building on Faith Fund.
