Helen Zahlen, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 3, 1914, in Genoa, Neb., daughter of Joseph and Anna Neibalski Nosal. She married Frank Zahlen in 1936 in St. Paul, Minn. He died Dec. 31, 1994.
Zahlen taught bridge at the Senior Learning Center at Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carterville, Ill., and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Zahlen of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Gary and Jim Zahlen of Henderson, Nev., Steven Zahlen of Littleton, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 2 at North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Msgr. Ken Schaefer will officiate.
Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.
