Helen Louise Ishmael Woodard, 74, of Cape Girardeau died at her home Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at 4:35 p.m., following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1926, in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of Harry Otho and Chessie Bee Zook Ishmael. She and Edgar L. Woodard were married May 24, 1942, in Jackson, Mo.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Douglas and Sharon Woodard of Rolla, Mo.; two granddaughters, Lisa June McConnell of Chicago, Maria Angeline Woodard of Silver City, N.M.; two grandsons, Matthew Colin Woodard and Marc Aaron Woodard of Rolla; two sisters, Lillian Emig of St. Charles, Mo., and Alice Bell of East Prairie; and a brother, Jacob Ishmael of East Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edgar L. Woodard Jr.; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Aug. 12, 2000, at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with Hal Greene officiating. Burial was in Cape County Memorial Park.
