KELSO, Mo. -- Helen Maxine Welter, 95, of Kelso died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.
She was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Lambertville, Missouri, to Herbert L. Sr. and Clara E. Morrow Karraker. She married Leon Nickolas Welter on Aug. 7, 1948. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2011.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, the Ladies Sodality and the Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion Ladies auxiliaries. Helen cooked for many weddings and loved to play cards and bingo.
She is survived by her son, Freddie Welter of Kelso; a grandson, Andrew Welter of Scott City; two sisters-in-law, Zeta Welter and Revella Schlosser of Kelso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Welter; three brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today, followed by Knights of Columbus prayers.
Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery.
