Helen Ree Tharp, 90, of Scott City died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at St. Joseph Manor in Bonne Terre, Mo.
She was born Nov. 18, 1913, at Diehlstadt, Mo., daughter of William Harvey and Stella M. Jennings Griffith. She and Joseph W. Tharp were married April 19, 1942, at Fornfelt. He died Jan. 22, 1972.
Tharp had been a seamstress at Ely Walker Clothing Factory. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Tharpe of Cadet, Mo., Paul Tharp of Manchester, Mo., Charles Tharpe of Florissant, Mo.; a stepson, Joe Tharpe of Florissant; a stepdaughter, Georgia Wynn of Blanchardsville, Wis.; a sister, Juanita Slinkard of DeKalb, Ill.; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; four stepgrandchildren; and eight great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, a stepdaughter and two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
