SIKESTON, Mo. -- Helen Stewart, 91, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 3, 1923, in Swinton, Missouri, daughter of the late Orbie and Minnie Mann Smothers, she was a member of Garden Ridge General Baptist Church. On June 16, 1941, she married Clellen Stewart. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1984.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, C.D. and Joan Stewart and Gale and Lisa Stewart, all of Bloomfield, Missouri; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol Thompson of Advance, Missouri, Linda and Mike Myers of Sikeston and Cheryl and Scott Mayo of Bloomfield; a brother, John T. Smothers of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law, Wyman Stewart of Dexter, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Freeda Smothers of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elvis Smothers, Harvey Smothers and Aaron Smothers; two sisters, Freda Smothers and Bertie Bush Sitz; and a son-in-law, Wade Thompson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery at Aquilla, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Stewart, Blaine Stewart, Colin Stewart, Joey Myers, Troy Thompson and Stewart Mayo.
