CAIRO, Ill. -- Helen T. Ryan, 81, of Cairo, died Monday, June 17, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born July 26, 1914, in East St. Louis, daughter of John and Genevieve Brauch. She married John Ryan, who died in 1992.

The Ryans owned and operated Plaza Hotel in Cairo many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Jack Groce of Wickliffe, Ky.; a grandson, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
