Helen E. Huff Owens, 93, of Cape Girardeau entered heaven's gates Sunday, March 26, 2017, surrounded by family at the Chateau Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Flat River, Missouri, to Edward and Roma Dalton Bradley.
She was a graduate of Flat River High School.
Helen was dedicated and very involved in coaching youth bowling at Cape Bowling Lanes and West Park Lanes for 23 years. Helen bowled on several leagues and in tournaments, both in and out of the area. She served on the CGWBA Board of Directors and was inducted into the hall of fame. Helen also loved playing golf in the mornings with her sister and friends. She played in several golf leagues and tournaments as well.
She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen lived her life as a Christian, always volunteering to serve on any committee, teaching Sunday school and helping with any activities needed. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ.
She was a very talented seamstress and had a monogramming shop in her home.
She was a wonderful friend, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Fulton (fiance, Ron Speidel) of Cape Girardeau; granddaughter, Kara Fulton; great-grandson, Jacob Ikerman; stepsons, Dickey (Marsha) Owens and David (Sherri) Owens; and many stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clyde Warren Huff Sr.; her second husband, Cecil E. Owens; sons, Clyde Warren Huff Jr. and Marcus Bradley Huff; and daughter, Judith Lynn Huff.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will be at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
