KELSO -- Helen Bernice Niederkorn, 83, of Roselle, Ill., died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in the Hospice House at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Ill. She was born Sept. 18, 1916, at Oran, daughter of Robert and Verna Crow Vaughn. She and Anton William Niederkorn were married May 18, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. He died Nov. 21, 1986...

KELSO -- Helen Bernice Niederkorn, 83, of Roselle, Ill., died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in the Hospice House at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Ill.

She was born Sept. 18, 1916, at Oran, daughter of Robert and Verna Crow Vaughn. She and Anton William Niederkorn were married May 18, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. He died Nov. 21, 1986.

Formerly of Kelso, Niederkorn was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Niederkorn of Belleville, Ill., David Niederkorn of Jordan, Minn.; five daughters, Betty Arient of Roselle, Janet Willas of Dunedin, Fla., Donna Ricordati of McHenry, Ill., Theresa Badalof of Chicago, and Kathleen Spencer of Orlando, Fla.

Also surviving are three brothers, James Vaughn of Peoria, Ill., Billie Vaughn of Florissant, Paul "Jack" Killam of New Market, Iowa; two sisters, Marie Ollis of Crestwood, Ill., Ruth Eaton of Jackson; 27 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, three brothers, and six sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4-9 p.m. Friday. Parish prayers will be at 6:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Helen Niederkorn Memorial Fund, 603 Acadia Trail, Roselle, Ill., 60172.
