ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Helen L. King of Granite City, formerly of Anna, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The Rev. DeWayne Taylor will officiate, with burial in Alto Pass Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.

King, 81, died Monday, July 10, 1995, at Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City.

She was born July 31, 1913, in Alto Pass, daughter of Albert and Lula Foster Rhodes. She first married Fred L. Pender Aug. 28, 1931. He died in 1944. She and James Calvin Pind were married Sept. 1, 1945. He died in 1964. She and Bird King were married Dec. 9, 1967, in Anna.

King was a member of West 22nd Street Baptist Church in Granite City.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mildred Fox of Jonesobro, Barbara Barlow of Anna; Six sons, Gilbert Pender, Don and Mike Pind of Anna, Paul Pender of Cobden, Fred Pender and Clarence Pind of Jonesboro; a stepson, James Pind of Jonesboro; a stepdaughter, Cuba Willis of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a sister, Margaret Rhodes of Anna; two brothers, Carl Rhodes of Wolf Lake, Billy Rhodes of Alto Pass; 24 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters, a brother, a grandchild, and a great-grandchild.
