Helen Juanita McWilliams, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday Feb. 22, 1977, at St. Frances Medical Center. She was professionally known as Helen Mack.
She was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Olney, Ill., the daughter of George and Flora McWilliams.
She taught school in Olney, and later was a welfare case worker before becoming a professional musician. She played piano and organ and sang with bands in Chicago, New Orleans, Hot Springs, Ark., among other places, including 16 months at the old Blue Note Club in Cape Girardeau in the early 1960s, with later appearances here at the Holiday Inn and the Ramada Inn.
She retired to Cape Girardeau in 1971.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by three sisters, Nina Coomas of Corpus Christi, Texas, George Eleanor Baird of Pante Verde, Fla., and Miriam Hooker of Greeley, Colo. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
There will be a private memorial service.
