MOUNDS, Ill. -- Helen Elizabeth Hock, 95, formerly of Mounds, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, in Southfield, Mich.
She was born Feb. 14, 1913, at Wolf Lake, Ill., daughter of Willis "Chub" and Mary Emaline Kinder Cruse. She married Lloyd E. Hock, who preceded her in death.
Hock was a member of First Baptist Church of Mounds and taught Sunday school many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sondra Travers; two granddaughters; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, two sisters, and three brothers.
Hock was a longtime employee of Illinois Bell Telephone Co., working as an operator more than 20 years. She assembled proximity fuses for artillery shells at the Edison Co., and had worked in her father's variety store in Mounds.
She lived In Memphis, Tenn., several years, returned to Mounds, and then moved to Michigan.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Wetaug, Ill.
