HELEN CRAIN

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Helen M. Crain, 87, of Mounds died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Southgate Nursing Home in Metropolis.

She was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Grand Chain, daughter of Oscar and Cobie E. Meisenheimer Shaffer. She and John L. Crain were married Nov. 26, 1940. He died in 1986.

Crain was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a former member of a home extension club and was a former 4-H leader.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Campbell of Metropolis; three sisters, Virginia Moore of Alton, Norma Dillow and Wanda Gulley of Dongola; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a brother, and a sister.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stephen Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery near Pulaski.
