SCOTT CITY -- Helen Louise Cope, 84, of Scott City died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Jackson Manor in Jackson. She was born June 27, 1915, in Newbern, Tenn., daughter of Lexie Steven and Ada Thurmond. She and Daniel J. Cope Sr. were married Feb. 13, 1932. He died Nov. 30, 1972...

SCOTT CITY -- Helen Louise Cope, 84, of Scott City died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.

She was born June 27, 1915, in Newbern, Tenn., daughter of Lexie Steven and Ada Thurmond. She and Daniel J. Cope Sr. were married Feb. 13, 1932. He died Nov. 30, 1972.

Cope moved to Scott City in 1954 from Cape Girardeau. She owned and operated Cope's Upholstery in Scott City. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Glynn Cope of Wauchula, Fla., Daniel Cope Jr. of Scott City; two daughters, Doris Moss of Scott City, Betty Roth of Manchester; four sisters, Hattie Hodge and Betty Holland of Roseburg, Ore., Lexie McDonald of Livermore Falls, Maine, Dolores Bozard of Newbern; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. today.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lightner Memorial Cemetery. Bryan McAllister will officiate.
