JEFFERSON CITY -- Helen Carroll Finch, 82, of Jefferson City died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at her home.
She was born April 21, 1915, at Jerseyville, Ill., daughter of the Rev. Edwin T. and Addie Krause Carroll.
On Aug. 28, 1937, she married Judge James A. Finch Jr. at Greenville, Ill. He died April 1, 1988.
She was a graduate of Miss Hickey's Secretarial School and attended Antioch College in Antioch, Ohio.
A resident of Jefferson City since 1965, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, a member of Chapter BW of PEO, a member of the Tuesday Club, a member of the Century Study Club, a member of the Delta Delta Delta Alumnae Club, a member and past president of the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary, a past board member of the University of Missouri Friends of Music, a past board member of the University of Missouri Friends of Libraries, a past board member of the A.F.S., a past board member of the United Way, a past board member of the Cole County Historical Society, a past board member of the Meals on Wheels, and a volunteer for Hospice.
She is survived by two sons, James A. Finch III of St. Louis and John D. Finch of Jefferson City; a daughter, Gail Finch Hubbell of Columbia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, with the Rev. E. Gene Rooney officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call immediately following the service in the parlor of the church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary in Jefferson City.
