Helen M. Brown, 89, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of New Wells, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in New Wells to Arthur and Ida Haertling Meyr.
Helen was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, also the church of her baptism and confirmation. She attended the former Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in New Wells and was a high-school graduate.
She and Fred Brown were married many years, and farmed near New Wells. Helen worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau. She previously participated in league bowling at Jackson Lanes.
Loving survivors include a son, David (Jane) Meyr of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Tracy (Ben) Ritter of St. Louis and Chad (Mallory) Meyr of Jackson; two grandsons, Beckett and Hudson Meyr of Jackson; and a brother, Elmer (Irma) Meyr of Kingwood, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Fred W. Brown.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Wells.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Home.
