Heather Colleen Seabaugh, 38, of Shawneetown passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at her home.

She was born June 24, 1972, in Rolla, Mo., daughter of Nicholas Howard and Mary Susan Prost Tibbs. She and Michael Lee Seabaugh were married Sept. 14, 1999.

Seabaugh graduated as valedictorian of the Notre Dame class of 1989. She went on to earn a bachelor of science with honors in geosciences in 1994 at Southeast Missouri State University and a master of science degree in 1996 with a specialty in earth science education.

She served many years as director of the College of Science and Mathematics Advising Center and taught courses in geosciences and earth science education.

Seabaugh was a faculty member at Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Loving survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mary Irene and Grace Anne Seabaugh of the home; three stepchildren, Robert Lee, Jennifer Louise and Cody Dale Seabaugh; her parents of Jackson; a brother, John Edward Tibbs of Waco, Texas; a sister, Cara Ann Lichtenegger of Altenburg, Mo.; and maternal grandmother, Irene Prost of Perryville, Mo.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by the rosary.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society or Southeast Hospice.
