Hazel Marie McSwain, 87, of Bourbonnais, Ill., died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home in Bourbonnais.
She was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Robert Brazil and Freida Alice Niswonger Rhyne. She and Winston Alfred McSwain were married Feb. 15, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. He died in 1983.
McSwain had been a licensed practical nurse at Lucy Lee Hospital and John J. Pershing Veterans Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Poplar Bluff, Mo., and American War Mothers.
Survivors include a son, William McSwain of Rocky River, Ohio; two daughters, Nichola Frey of St. Anne, Ill., Becky Gurley of Troy, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
