GAUTIER, Miss. -- Hazel Laverne Hillegass, 93, of Gautier died Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
She was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Daisy to Richard Trustin and Dora Dorcas Penny Cobble.
She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1939.
She and Wayne H. Hillegass were married July 11, 1953. He died Dec. 27, 2011. She was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy.
She worked for International Shoe Company in Cape Girardeau and later worked for Stielberg Corporation in St. Louis.
Hazel is survived by a sister, Hester (Paul) Turner of Jackson; three nephews, William (Marty Bounds) Turner of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, Paul R. (Rita) Turner of Perryville, Missouri, and Robert (Shirley) Turner of Marble Hill, Missouri; and two nieces, Loretta (Paul) Lowes of Jackson and Ethel (Vernon) Daume of Oak Ridge, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Helen Friese, Hilda Search and Katherine Cobble.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.
Burial will follow at New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Daisy.
Memorial contributions may be given to New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
