SIKESTON -- Hazel Curtis, 76, of Sikeston, formerly of Mississippi County, died Saturday, Jan 30, 1999, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Sept. 30, 1922, at Bowling Green, Ky., daughter of Arthur T. and Carrie Kitchens Thornton. She and Elwayne Curtis were married in 1943. He preceded her in death.
She was employed as a cook with Cardinal Carriers Towing Co. until her retirement.
She was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Kevin Curtis of Hiram, Ga., Stanley Curtis of Atlanta, Ga., Delbert Curtis of Wickliffe, Ky., Lowell Curtis of Cedar Town, Ga., and Gary Curtis of Barlow, Ky.; two daughters, Retha Hayes of Sikeston and Sandra Westbrook of Hiram; a brother, Charles Thornton of Wyatt; three sisters, O'Dell Thornton of Wyatt, and Alma Johnson and Genievie Gill, both of Granite City, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Loy Miller will officiate, with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
