ANNISTON -- Funeral service for Hattie Mae Calhoon of Anniston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Anniston Christian Church. Martin Lucas will officiate, with burial in Anniston Cemetery.
McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
Calhoon, 99, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 29, 1897, in Mississippi County, daughter of Golder and Mary Annie Chambers Thurman. She and Charles "Andy" Calhoon were married Dec. 23, 1914. He died in May 1932.
Calhoon had worked at Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston, and was a member of Anniston Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Thurman Calhoon of Ontario, Calif., Bill Calhoon of Chino, Calif.; four daughters, Halene De Leon, Colene Oliver and Frances Houser of East Prairie, Bobby Wicker of Anniston; a brother, Leonard "Peck" Thurman of Anniston; a sister, Nadine Neal of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a granddaughter, and a great-great-granddaughter.
