PATTON, Mo. -- Hartley Morris Bell, 85, of Patton passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 19, 1927, in Tunnel Hill, Ill., son of George and Alma Branscum Bell. He and Patricia E. Clark were married June 9, 1988.
Hartley served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946, in the National Guard from 1948 to 1949, in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1962, and from 1962 to 1965 served in the reserves and retired as a captain.
He was a retired postal carrier. He was a member and deacon of Post Oak Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Patton; three sons, Steven Ray (Amanda) Hadley of Bloomfield, Mo., Dewey Wayne (Russ Ann) Adams of Edmond, Okla., Donald Eugene Gibson of Wasilla, Alaska; a daughter, Sandra Kay (Jim) Pulley of Gale, Ill.; a sister, Joan Faulkner of Golconda, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jim, Bob and Bill Bell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Terry Douglas and Kevin Mills officiating. Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery near Patton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Post Oak Cemetery.
